beauty is in the fleeting
the fleeting always tinged with sadness
couldn't things stay as they are?
great golden clouds, heavy with water,
nourishment that need a dry and thirsty land,
as much as the thirsty need it.
it is a contract -
water that revives and nourishes,
and the revived and nourished that water
O will You rend the heavens and come down
flood our hearts and heal our hands
with heads bowed low and hands held high
redeem the years and the months,
the captive little sunsets,
that always make me cry
couldn't we find out what would have been?
or would that knowledge overwhelm us
drive us to madness in the process?
